TEDxCSU
March 5th, 2016 | Lory Student Center Theater, Colorado State University
TEDxCSU featured live TEDx talks as well as interactive exhibits where innovators and audience members engaged in the spreading of ideas and passions. The TEDxCSU talk I delivered titled, The Gender Tag: Authentic Gender Expression, was one of only two proposals selected by undergraduate students.

The talk I gave centered around The Gender Tag Project, and invited audience members to learn more about gender as a social construct, gain information about the project itself, and most importantly, to critically engage their own choices about gender and gender expression.

Learn more about TEDxCSU and view a slideshow from the event here.

Dance Senior Capstone Performance
December 11th & 12th, 2015 | University Center of the Arts at Colorado State University
Performed an original spoken word piece written specifically for the performance. The piece I performed, entitled “Anger,” was developed and workshopped in conjunction with the choreographer, Alex Ader. Alex’s piece, Phoenix, was part of her senior capstone work for the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance program at Colorado State University.

Footage from opening night can be viewed here!

“I’m so grateful for this amazing artist’s collaboration in the creation of one the sections in my capstone group dance. It was one of the most powerful things I have ever been able to put on stage, and it was mostly because of her words and artistry! Thank you so very much!”

Fredonia Poetry Festival
April 15th, 2015 | SUNY University Fredonia, New York
Event sponsored by Writer’s Ring, Pride Alliance, Women’s Student Union, Latinos Unidos, and Sigma Tau Delta. Performed selected original poetry from albums A Bird Just Flies… and Disillusionsas well as other pieces that had never before been performed for a live audience.

Click here to watch some footage from the performance!

“Ashley Wylde was great to have at the Fredonia Poetry Festival. Not only does she have an incredible talent to share, but her professional yet approachable nature helped the festival run smoothly. Her poetry allowed the audience a chance to explore her life and experiences, and to think and reflect on their own personal relationships and identities. The members of the Fredonia Pride Alliance and Women’s and Gender Studies program were talking, tweeting, and reflecting on Ashley’s performance for the rest of the semester. In hindsight, she’s one of best choices we could have made to showcase a diverse, positive, funny, and insightful voice within the queer community.”

– Deanna Buley, Vice President, Pride Alliance at Fredonia
